Springfield, OR ((February 4, 2008) -- McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center announces the formation of the “Healthy Woman” advisory council. The nine member council will provide guidance for the program, designed to empower women to make informed healthcare and well-being decisions for themselves and their loved ones.

Advisory Council members include Debbie Leiken, Ardis Hughes, Mindy Linder, Glenda Poling, Doris Towery, Tresa Lively, Marcia Pendleton, Maureen Weathers, and Peggy Saleeby.

“Being part of this new resource for women is exciting,” says Debbie Leiken, advisory council member.  “I feel privileged to work with such a capable and committed group of women.”

The advisory council will meet monthly to aid in the selection of program topics and provide guidance in the acquisition of sponsorships and program venues.

Healthy Woman is a free resource created by and for women.  The kickoff for the program is Wednesday February 6, 7 p.m. at Hilton Eugene.  Fern Carness, R.N., will deliver the keynote address, “A Wise Woman’s Guide to Health and Healing.”  Carness, a breast cancer survivor, small business owner, and nationally recognized speaker brings humor and candor to a subject she knows intimately.

The first 300 who register for the event will receive a free Healthy woman T-shirt along with admittance to the keynote address.
