McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center
Looking for Patients’ Choice in Nursing

Springfield, Oregon – McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is initiating the annual Patient Choice Award to recognize the quality care, comfort and compassion offered by our nurses. This program, which solicits input from the community, will culminate with one McKenzie-Willamette nurse receiving the Patient Choice Award during Nurses Week, May 6 -12.

Why would McKenzie-Willamette be asking former patients to be so involved in spotlighting an exceptional nurse, rather than making the choice internally?

“Sometimes it’s just too hard to single out one nurse when there are so many who do such an incredible job caring for our patients,” says Kathy Deacon, Chief Nursing Officer. “That’s why we are asking patients to share their thoughts and experiences. They see the little things that matter so much on a very personal level.”

So, if you, or a family member, have come to McKenzie-Willamette for inpatient, outpatient or emergency care in the last year, and you have a nurse you’d like to thank for going the extra mile, don’t miss this chance. Nominations for the 2008 Patient Choice Award will be accepted until April 30.

To nominate a nurse, send the nurse’s name and a few paragraphs explaining your nomination, along with your own name (and the name of the patient) address, and phone number.

Be sure to email, standard mail or fax your nomination by April 30. Email nominations to wecare@mckweb.com, fax to 744-8565, or standard mail to Marketing Department, McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center, 1460 G Street, Springfield, OR 97477.
