McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center Celebrates Our Local Heroes
Springfield, OR. In remembrance of the tenth anniversary of September 11, McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center is holding a special celebration for emergency responders, Monday September 12, 11:30am-2:00pm on the East lawn of the hospital. The celebration includes a catered barbecue lunch.
"This event is our way of saying thank you to our local firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel for their dedication and commitment, and for the lives they protect and save every day," says Maurine Cate, Chief Executive Officer at McKenzie-Willamette.
A special performance by the Willamette High School Marching Band will occur at approximately 12:30pm. Led by longtime band director Bart Ellis, the Willamette High School Marching Band has more than 50 members and packs a big sound. Says Ellis of the performance: "The kids are really excited to play at the celebration held at McKenzie-Willamette. This kind of public private partnership is good for schools, kids and the community."
Members of all Lane County police, fire and emergency medical services staff have been invited to attend and will be arriving in emergency vehicles including landing a helicopter on the roof of the hospital.
