McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center receives the Pacific Northwest Transplant Bank Hope Award
Saving lives through organ donation
(Springfield, OR 4/22/22) -- McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center has been named a PNTB Hope Award winner. The 2021 Hope Award is presented to hospitals in the PNTB service area in honor of their partnership and collaboration toward saving lives through organ donation. Despite some challenging years in health care, the efforts of hospital staff led to 579 life-saving transplants in 2021 and gave hope to thousands of others waiting.
PNTB is grateful for dedicated hospital staff who recognize that in the midst of tragedy, there remains hope. Not only for someone in need of a transplant, but also for the donor family in the legacy left by their loved one.
April is Donate Life Month- a month that encourages individuals to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors AND to honor those who have saved lives through the gift of organ donation. Every 10 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.
